Zelma Akers Martin, 70, of Pulaski, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Heritage Hall in Blacksburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Martin. Survivors include two daughters, Pat Thompson of Culpeper, and Mary Yates of Roanoke; a grandson, Tanner Smith; two granddaughters, Jessica Slusher and Laurie Preziosi; two brothers, Matthew Akers of Christiansburg and Robert Akers of Poquoson; and a sister, Orlean Lytton of Christiansburg. As per Mrs. Martins request, she will be cremated and services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018. The Martin family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
