William Emmett Sonny Viers, III, 62, passed away at his home in Christiansburg on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. He was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam and retired from Lynchburg Foundry with 36 years service. Survivors include two sons, Christopher H. Viers of Radford and William J. Viers of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Chris, Jayme, Sara and Shalynn Viers; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnie Lee and Rebecca Viers of Waynesboro, Mitchell Dean and Kay Viers of Radford, and Allen Wayne and Becky Viers of Christiansburg; and best friend, Brenda Viers Bowman of Christiansburg. The family would like to thank Medi-Home Hospice for all their kindness. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the West View Cemetery in Radford with Rev. Jim Walker officiating. V. F. W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Viers family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
