Obituary

William Yates Garth, 87, of Radford, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Radford and retired from RAAP with 27 years of service as a chemical engineer. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Q. and Louise Eakle Garth, daughter, Virginia L. Garth, and a brother, T. Q. Garth. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Catherine Quinlan Garth; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Herb Smith of Newport News; son and daughter-in-law William C. and Deena Garth of Burnsville, MS; son-in-law, John Cochrane; four grandchildren Arch, Christopher and his wife Elizabeth, Paige and William; and 2 great-grandchildren Michael and Colin. The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Kincaid, his staff, and the staff at Radford Nursing and Rehab for their care. The family wishes that memorials be made to Daily Bread of Radford. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at The Radford Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Sherwood Cemetery in Salem. The Garth family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
