William Donald Franklin, Sr., 82, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 at his home in Radford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lakey June Franklin and his mother, Mary McCraw Franklin. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Farmer of Radford; two sons and daughters-in-law, William D. and Dreama Franklin, Jr. of Radford, and Barry and Deanna Franklin of Covington, GA; father, Rev. Sam Franklin of Radford; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters and brother-in-law, Wanda Lawson of Radford, Frances Jones of Maryland, Phyllis and Paul Harris of Christiansburg, and Cynthia Crosier of Radford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Jerry Gibson and Rev. Jim Walker officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11 am at the Pentecostal Conference Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Carilion Hospice, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, Virginia 24141.
