Many people around town knew Wanda as "the basket lady," as she spent many years as a representative for Longaberger Baskets. This role allowed her to build a close-knit community of friends while also amassing a treasured collection of her signature baskets, which remain proudly displayed in her home today. When she wasnt out delivering baskets and visiting with friends, she could often be found working crossword puzzles, engaging in spirited games of Scrabble, attending church services at Radford Church of Christ, or lovingly doting on her familyall in time to return to her easy chair for the nightly double feature of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. To know Wanda was to be loved by her. She had a beautiful way of celebrating the people in her lifewhether it was through a thoughtful phone call, a basket full of candy hugs and kisses, a surprise toy tucked into a grandchilds lunchbox, a newspaper clipping sent in the mail, or a hand delivered tray of her famous brownies she loved to spoil those around her. Born into a deeply loving family as the eldest of eleven children, Wanda possessed a natural inclination to nurture and care for others, and she took great pride and joy in that role throughout her life. Her love knew no bounds, and as her family, it has been an absolute honor to have received that love and to give it to her in return. We will cherish that love and her memory forever.
