Walter Herbert Turpin, age 87 of Radford, passed away Friday October 23, 2009 at VA Medical Center in Salem. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a Lifetime Member of V.F.W. #776 in Radford, and was a retired employee Lynchburg Foundry with 39 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bentley Clayton Sr. and Ocie Nelson Turpin, five brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a brother Howard C. Turpin of Salem; a sister Bernice Kotnich of Media, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Military Graveside services will be held by V.F.W. Post #776 on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the West View Cemetery in Radford, with the Rev. Brian Cockram officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Turpin family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
