It is with immense love that her family announces that Virginia Ruth (Cole) Daniels went peacefully home to meet her Lord and Savior on October 29, 2026. Born January 19, 1943, to Woodrow and Maize (Brown) Cole in Whitewood, VA, Virginia led a full and expansive life focused on serving Jesus. She met the love of her life, Hersel Daniels, while in grade school and they married on Sept. 6, 1958, in Grundy, VA. While a young bride, she surprised her husband by traveling to Germany as he served in the Army and then purposefully kept a special secret and surprised her family when she arrived home to give birth to their first child. She was a committed help mate to Hersel throughout her life and served alongside him in his ministry for the Church of God for over 46 years, with an additional and initial 3 years spent evangelizing across the southeast from a little camper. Virginia was a fierce prayer warrior who was called upon by many during her lifetime to intercede on their behalf to the Lord. It did not matter the time of day or what she was in the middle of - if prayer was needed, she hit her knees and poured her soul into sending whatever communication was needed to heaven. She prayed without ceasing and her faith was legendary. While she came from the mountains of Appalachia, Virginia was blessed with many successes that were not always typical for a woman of her era. She ran successful businesses that included interior design, food service, floral arrangements and was even a published author. Virginia was an icon of style who was earnestly dedicated to keeping America’s fashion industry successful. While a shoe count will not be performed, the family can attest that she loved heels, sparkles, rhinestones, matching purses, jewelry and a good shopping trip and sale more than anyone we have ever known. She ensured her love of style was passed to her family for the benefit of future generations by always sharing “a little something” she thought they might like. She had a ready laugh and wouldn’t hesitate to participate in fun pranks, family games and was always ready to play the piano and lift her voice to the heavens in celebration and praise.
Without question, Virginia’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She loved Hersel and her children with her entire being and told them so, often. Teresa was her first born, followed not long after by Rick, then Tammy and Wayne. Her faith lives on in them and in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If a tree is known by the fruit that it bears, Virginia would tell you herself that she was a blessed woman.
Virginia is now in the presence of her Lord and enjoying fellowship with her family that preceded her in death which includes her mother, father, brother Truman, and her beloved daughter, Teresa. She is survived by her soulmate, Hersel; her sisters, Katherine Blankenship and Diane Payne; brother, James Cole; her children, Rick (wife Elizabeth), Tammy and Wayne (wife Vickie) and son-in-law Jerry Vinson (husband of Teresa); grandchildren, Jessica, Cole (wife Lizzie), Zachary (wife Summer), Nicholas (wife Megan), Alexa, Georgia (fiancé Parsa), Rilee (husband Rylan) and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Parker, Margaret, Lydia, Isla, Laurel, Alanah, Aryiah, Azari and a soon to arrive additional great grandson.
Our family asks that you join us in celebrating the blessed life of Virginia Ruth - daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, business woman, musician, author, and most of all, a good and faithful servant of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We rejoice that our beloved Virginia is now in the arms of our Savior - well done.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 1pm on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow at 3pm in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
