Virginia Ruth Akers, 73, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Cleveland Ford II and Virginia Cox Ford; husband, Hiram Akers; son, Michael Akers; and brothers, Grover Ford and Roger Ford. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her children, Tammy Roman and husband Ricardo, Vincent Akers, April Sterling, and Valarie Akers and spouse; grandchildren, Jose Roman and wife Tisha, Jesse Akers and wife Trinity, Amando Roman and wife Alvie, Brianna Schaar and husband Russ, Cory Akers, Zachary Akers and wife Kristina, Emily Akers, and Carlee Akers; great grandchildren, Audrey, Hayden, RaeNathen, Prince, and Jaxon; siblings, Joyce Phillips, Gary Ford, and Brenda McGuyer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Phillip Cox officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma.
