Obituary

Virginia Lee Martz Piper age 83 of Radford, passed on to eternity on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Virginia was born in Ellerslie, Maryland to Fred and Helen Martz on April 12, 1929. She met her husband Mike, at the Celanese Plant in Cumberland, Maryland, and they married in 1950. They lived in Lavale, Maryland for many years until Mike was transferred to Radford, Virginia to be employed by the Radford Ammunition Plant. While in Radford, Ginny was employed by Huddles Jewelry and then retired from Sturgills Jewelry many years ago. Ginny was an active member of St. Judes Catholic Church in Radford, and enjoyed playing bingo in her spare time. She loved to play the piano, and made beautiful cross-stitch artwork. She was an amazing, beautiful woman, and always had a smile on her face. Ginny is survived by her husband, James M. (Mike) Piper; children, Michael F. Piper of Frostburg, Maryland, Patty Piper Yeager and son-in-law Scott of Kansas City, Missouri, and Greg Piper and daughter-in-law Maricca Handy Piper of Draper, Virginia. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Mandy Lee Mabry and her fianc, Micah Stoute, Sr. of Charlotte, North Carolina and Kevin Mabry from Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandson, Micah Reter Stoute, II. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Fay Plummer of Frostburg, Maryland; sister-in-law Lois Ucci of Pensacola, Florida; along with many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ginnys life will be held at St. Judes Catholic Church in Radford on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Park in Radford, VA. The Piper family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory.
