Virginia (Deryline) DeHart Hamilton, 76 of Radford, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at home following a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was born in Radford on February 12, 1932 and was known as a shooting forward on the Radford High School girls basketball team and was also a tennis player. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ruby Tolley DeHart, and a daughter Pamela Hamilton Teel. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Gloria Hamilton of Radford; son-in-law William F. Teel of Christiansburg; four granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Camille Teel of Christiansburg, Stacie and Chelsey Hamilton both of Radford, and Chrissy Hamilton Hedge and Patrick Hedge of Dublin; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Makayla, Jeremiah and Madelyn Hedge all of Dublin; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Louise Merrill of NC, Charlotte Maxwell of TN, and Peggy and Jeff Osborne of Radford; a former husband, Alexander L. Hamilton of Radford; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Rotche of Radford and Dr. Heath of Roanoke, Dr. Smusz and the rest of the hard-working employees of Carilion Hospice, Pam Forsyth, Julie Hughes, Cathy Hall, Joye Gilmer, Jean Pauley, Cindy Powell, Deborah Brady, Billie Graham, Karen King, Debra Hamm, Brenda Morris, Chaplin Tom Rice and Andrea Hanlon. A very heart felt thank you to Phylliss Selfe of Christiansburg, who not only cared for Deryline but became a true friend to her and our family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parrott Church of God with Rev. Edward Dalton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Hamilton family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
