Vera Nadine Crist, 70, of Radford, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 after an extended battle with cancer. Mrs. Crist attended Fairlawn Baptist Church and was retired from the Virginia Department of Social Services. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee Crist Sheffield who was married to Rob Sheffield of New York; parents, Walter and Freda Smith of Hines, W.Va., and brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary Smith of Memphis, Tenn. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Buddy K. Crist; daughter and son-in-law, Drema and Joe Gross of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren, Ruby and Simon Gross. Mrs. Crist also leaves behind a sister, Judy Hagan of Hiram, Ga.; brother Lawrence Smith and wife Thelma of Milner, Ga.; brother-in-laws, Troy Crist and wife Lois of Charleston, S.C., Kermint Crist and wife Linda of Quinwood, W.Va., and Grover Crist and wife Donna of Charleston, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Caroline Crist of Riner; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Fairlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory W. Harrell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O.
