Thomas Oakley Martin, 62, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at his home in Radford. He was a carpenter and also worked in maintenance at VA Tech. He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Martin and Mary Kenley Kirtner. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Anita "Kim" S. Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Carla Marie and Reid Arrington of Blacksburg; stepson and wife, Peter and Michelle Brown of Charlotte, N.C.; grandson, Landon Oakley Phillips; granddaughter, Stevie Judith Arrington; brother and sister-in-law, Geary and Leda Martin of Floyd; sister, Sha Whittamore of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Victor Sheppard and fianc Sissy Slayman of Dublin, and James and Lisa Sheppard of Front Royal; beloved dog, Jazz; and best friends, Buddy and Gail Flythe. The family would like to thank all the staff at Carilion NRV Medical Center, Carilion NRV Hospice, and especially nurses Tee, Leah and Sonya for all the care and kindness given to them.
