Thomas Bain, 70, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Radford, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center in Arlington. He was retired Recreation Director with Montgomery County and was a U. S. Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edna Bain. Survivors include his wife, Regina Fowler Bain of Va. Beach; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jennifer Bain of Falls Church; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Richard Mateljan of Va. Beach; grandson, Dmitry Thomas Mateljan; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Stan Burke of Blacksburg; and niece and nephew, Amy Diehl and Jim Burke. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Allison Unroe officiating. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
