Obituary

Thomas Kent T. K. Adams, Sr. passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009. He was born November 5, 1933 in the small farming community of Whitethorne, VA, the son of the late Richard Putnam and Julia Roope Adams. T. K. attended Virginia Tech, where he received a degree in Dairy Science. After serving in the U. S. Army in Korea, he returned to the family farm in Whitethorne where he had a grade A dairy herd for more than 30 years. He retired from dairy farming in 1985 when the family farm was sold to VA Tech. T. K. continued to farm full-time in Pulaski County where he maintained a cow-calf herd. Well known for his keen sense-of-humor and practical jokes, T. K. will be missed by his many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Adams. T. K. is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas Kent Adams, Jr. and Kim Bridges of Christiansburg, and James Putnam and Tara Adams of Wytheville; two grandsons, Alex and Casey Adams; companion of more than 20 years, Nancy King of Radford, her children and grandchildren; and special friends Max and Jimmie Jenkins of Radford. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Kent Taylor officiating. Interment will be private for family and close friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the United Way of Montgomery County, 111 West Main St., Christiansburg, VA 24073. The Adams family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
