Obituary

Stell Virginia Cornett, 89 of Fairlawn, died on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Pulaski Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pulaski. Born February 15, 1918 in Grayson County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Zollie Livesay Cornett and Marvin Riley Cornett. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lasca Stone and a brother, Dean Cornett. She retired from over 40 years of service with Leggetts Department store in downtown Radford. She was an active and long time faithful member of the Grove United Methodist Church in Radford, Virginia. Survivors include a devoted sister, Ruth James of Fairlawn, and the following nieces and nephews, Linda Stiner and husband Bill of Fairlawn, Maynard Sayers and wife Sharon of Dublin, Dennis Sayers and wife Anne of Fairlawn. In addition, she is survived by nieces Jane Cornett of Northern Virginia, Evelyn Stone Cox of Comers Rock, and nephew Jackie Stone and wife Glenda of Elk Creek. Known to family and friends as Aunt Stell, her extended family included the children and grandchildren of her nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Stell Cornett will be held at the Grove United Methodist Church in Radford on Monday, March 12th, at 11:00 AM with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Grove United Methodist Church. The Cornett family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
