Silas Norwood Cox, 85 of Christiansburg passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church and was a retired welder for N&W Railroad with over 36 years of service and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas C. and Leuemma Keister Cox, and a brother, Albert Cox. He is survived by his wife, Elsie S. Cox; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Burton Cobb, and Melva Ann and Larry Hall, all of Christiansburg; three grandchildren, Timothy Otey, Tracy Crosier and Nicole Hall; two great grandchildren, Brandon Crosier and Timothy Otey, Jr.; four sisters, Mary Cook of West Virginia, Myrtle Cook of Florida, Sue Whitt of Michigan and Janice Smith of West Virginia; and two brothers, Edgar Cox and Paul Cox, both of West Virginia. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Ginny Tompkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Rockford Cemetery where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Cox family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
