Sidney "Al" Pearson, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Fairlawn on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He had made Radford his home since 1977. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, as well as a retired professor of political science at Radford University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved the outdoors and spent time hiking the Appalachian Trail whenever possible. What he enjoyed most was his family. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Albert Pearson, Sr. and Leola P. Pearson. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Maryann Pearson; son, Donald Allen Pearson (Arlyn); daughter, Joanne Louise Pearson Markert; grandchildren, Ryan, Joe, and Alexia; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Services will follow at 12 noon with Father Cassidy Stinson officiating.
