Shirley Ann Beig Moore, 73, of Radford, Virginia, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center due to complications related to Mulitple Sclerosis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gray Moore, Sr., her son, Thomas Gray Moore, Jr., and her two brothers, Benjamin M. and E. Carl Beig. She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Callie and Ted Dalton of Roanoke, VA and Beth and John N. Dalton, Jr. of Radford, VA and a son and daughter in law, Patrick and Angela Moore of Radford, VA. She is also survived by nine loving grandchildren. She was a dedicated volunteer and a champion of many causes. In 1987, Shirley was honored with the Times-News Award which was given annually to those few people who, among the half million of the Tri-Cities region, demonstrated leadership, understanding, and courage. By doing so, Shirley became an example of excellence for others to follow. Her greatest pride was being the mother of four children and the grandmother to nine grandchildren. She devoted her life and talent to enriching their lives and giving them many traditions to share. A special thank you for the loving care that Shirley received from the staff at Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center , Dr. Charles Judy, and Carilion Hospice. She looked forward to her weekly communion and prayers with Ginger Burggraf as well as the many other visitors who lifted her up. The family wishes to thank the members of the St. Jude parish and Father Patrick Golden for their prayers and continuous support of Shirley and her family. Shirley, a devoted catholic, loved her church dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 1740 Tyler Road, Christiansburg, VA, 24073. A celebration of Shirleys life will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2007. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral mass in the fellowship hall. The Moore family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
