Sarah Ellen Matics Thomas "Grandma", of Christiansburg, went to be with "Granddaddy" on Monday, March 18, 2013. She was a member of the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church and retired from Radford University Food Service Dept. Sarah was born in Alderson, WVa the daughter of the late William Drew and Avey Forren Matics. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Richard H. Thomas. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, George and Bev Thomas of Christiansburg; granddaughters and their spouses, Jennifer and Michael Kummer of Salem, and Stacy and Paul Jackson of Hingham, Mass.; great grandchildren, Sierra and Leland Jackson; and a special niece, Patty Mann. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Makin officiating.
