Samuel Ellis Martin, 81 of Radford, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the New River Valley Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII. He was born March 15, 1925 the son of late Charles Arnold, Jr. and Maggie Ellen Martin. He was preceded in death by his wives, Juanita Martin and Margaret Ratcliffe Martin, a son, Ellis Eugene Martin, a daughter, Joyce Martin, a brother, Charles Martin, III, and grandsons, Chris Woods and Carl Martin. Survivors include three step-children and their spouses, Betty L. Woods and Don Lockwood of Seattle, WA, Robert and Joyce Farmer of Christiansburg, and Bonnie and Floyd Wood of Radford; two sisters, Ellen Watkins of Lexington and Charlotte Seay of Mt. Crawford; a sister-in-law, Jean Martin of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Leona and Raymond Ramsey, and Pat Berry and Brenda. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Danny Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Mullins Funeral Home. The Martin family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
