Ruth Irene Hedrick Mitchell, 72, of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Brown Hedrick Sr. and Elizabeth Vernon Hedrick, a brother, R. B. Sonny Hedrick, Jr., and two sisters, Edna Tootsie Lawson and Shirley Jean Warden. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Raymond Randolph Mitchell of Wytheville; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond R. Randy, Jr. and Kimberly Kidd Mitchell of Wytheville, and Timothy Ray, Sr. and Sherry Cornett Mitchell of Rural Retreat; grandchildren, T. J. Mitchell, Harley Lee Mitchell and Miranda Lynn Mitchell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Wytheville with Rev. Joe Mack Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the church. The Mitchell family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
