Ruth Slusher Decker, 88, of Radford, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at her son's home in Kingsport, TN. She was a longtime member of the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church where she served as choir director for 50 years. She retired from Hercules Powder with 34 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry W. and Mary Welsh Slusher, and her husband, Harry Ivan Decker. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harry I., Jr. (Butch) and Terri Decker of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren Brian, Holly (and husband Matt), Tara and Jan; great-grandchildren, Ava, Jake and Maddie; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Ann Slusher of Charleston, WVa; and sister, Helen S. Parrish of Christiansburg. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chip Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church Capital Improvement Fund, 6900 Pulaski Ave., Fairlawn, VA 24141. The Decker family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
