Russell Dewayne Burton, 58, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026. He was born on September 13, 1967, in Radford, VA to Leroy Franklin and Shirley Darlene Burton. After graduating Pulaski High School, Russell enlisted in the U. S. Navy and received training as an Electronics Technician. He was then stationed aboard the USS Barnstable County LST-1197 and deployed to the Mediterranean. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Radford and became a supervisor at Plymouth Paper.

He was a sharp, witty, easy going man with a great sense of humor.

Russell is survived by his dedicated companion and friend of 17 years, Lisa Gallimore, her daughter, Abigale; his daughter, Kaylea Hopkins and beautiful granddaughter, Kay-Lani; sister, Laura Flowers and husband Jerry Flowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leroy “Delphin” Burton. Jimmy Gilmer was Russell’s lifelong friend and stood by him throughout his lifetime.

A celebration of life will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
