Roger D. Ferrell, age 50, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2011 at his home in Draper. He was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church and boiler operator at Radford University with 25 years of service. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Ferrell. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Karen Whitaker Ferrell; his mother, Betty Miller Ferrell; his brother, Mike Ferrell of Cape Hatteras, NC; his daughters, Angy Young of Haw River, NC and Jennifer Harriman of Draper; and seven grandchildren, Chassidy Cox, Grace Cox, Ally Young, Dallas Young, Kaelyn Williams, Taylor Chambers and Ashton Harriman. Roger was much loved by his family and many friends. He touched every life he came in contact with and he will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 2 pm at the Fairlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Wednesday evening at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Interment will be Monday, June 20, 2011 at 10 am at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Fairlawn Baptist Church, 6758 Oxford Avenue, Fairlawn, VA 24141. The Ferrell family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
