Obituary

Robert H. (Bob) Wright, 82, of Claytor Lake died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Radford, and a retired employee of Hercules, Inc. with 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and participated in Operation Crossroads to test the Atomic Bomb at Bikini, Atoll, Marshall Islands. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert H. (Robby) Wright, Jr. a sister Margaret Counts, and six brothers, Ballard, Charles W.(Giggs), William H., Joseph O., Martin E. and Thomas (Skeeter) Wright. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gaynell Beamer Wright and daughter and son-in-law Donna and Guy Gilmore of Radford; grandchildren and their spouses, Chadwick A. and Annette W. Gilmore of Vinton, Laura G. and Michael Robinson of Marion, Robert Matthew and Sarah Wright of Knoxville, TN and William Mitcheal and Brianne Wright of Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren include, Kyle Bradley, David Ryan and Hope Madeline Robinson, Clayton Russell Gilmore, Christian Hunter Ison, and Brandon Matthew and Emily Elaine Wright; one brother and spouse George (B) and Shirley Wright, New Brunsfel, TX, sister and spouse Dollie and Richard Ford, Radford, and sister Louise W. Stafford, Radford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 1:30 p.m. 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Radford with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. Pastors Brian Cockram and O.D. Morgan will be officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of V. F. W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites.
