Robert Douglas Swing, Jr., 66, of Radford, passed away January 6 2013. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Radford, a U.S. Navy veteran and a respiratory therapist. He proudly served respiratory patients in Virginia Beach and the New River Valley for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. Swing, Sr. and Frances Ward Swing Bozeman. Survivors include his wife, Jane C. Swing; daughter, Elizabeth Jane Swing and future husband Johnny Soucek of Radford; daughter, Lisa Michelle Porcelli and husband David of Trabuco Canyon, CA; son, Samuel Douglas Swing of Christiansburg; son, Robert Thomas Swing of Radford; brother, William Rodney Bozeman and wife Jane of Lexington, NC; granddaughter, Siena Porcelli; mother-in-law, Ruth Hemphill Capps of Julian, NC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; colleagues and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 5 2013 at 3 pm at The River Company, 6633 Viscoe Road, Radford, VA. All those who wish to come are invited to bring and share pictures, stories, and memories of Doug. Military honors will be bestowed on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 5550 Bagging Plant Road, Dublin, VA. We want to express our deepest appreciation for the many acts of kindness and remembrance shared with us. Your care, comfort, visits, gifts, love, prayers, and words of encouragement have sustained us. God's angels have truly been busy since January.
