Robert Lee (Nick) Nicholson, Jr., 94, passed away at his home in Radford surrounded by his family. He was a member of Grove United Methodist Church and a U. S. Army veteran having served in World War II with General George Pattons 3rd Army in Europe. He was very active in Radford V. F. W. Post #776. Nick spent 20 years in the automotive business as service manager, and 26 years in supervision at Hercules (RAAP) retiring at the age of 70 years. He was born on November 18, 1921 in the Whitehead Community, Sparta, N. C. the son of the late Robert and Emma Nicholson. Survivors include his son, Robert L. "Bob" Nicholson III of Radford; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Greg Bolling of Bristol, Beth and Doug Linkous of Radford, and Jan and Jay Angle of Radford; grandchildren and their spouses, Joey and Kelly Linkous, Matt and Shelley Linkous, Sarah and Jamie Flinchum, Mark Hamby and fiance Christy Miller, Jessica Hamby, Robbie and Rachel Hamby, Rebecca and Gary Holland, Chris and Jessica Hill, and Jake Angle; 13 great-grandchildren; and dear friend and companion, Marceline Hunter. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 Noon on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jan Nicholson Angle and Rev. Aaron Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites.
