Robert Stewart Coleman, 87, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by his children and grandson. Born in Buchanan County, Va., Robert was the son of the late William Anthony Coleman and Delsa (Conn) Coleman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mariam (Coleman) Wright and his brother, William Anthony Coleman, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Magdalene (Justice) Coleman; daughter, Deborah Wells of Christiansburg; sons, Stewart Coleman and wife Amy of Radford, Va. and Robin Coleman and wife Karen of Riner, Va.; brothers, Douglas Coleman and wife Lois of Tazewell, Va. and Bennie Coleman of Wolf Creek, Va. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brandon Hurley and daughter Layla, Anthony Wells, Chancey Coleman and wife Jessica and daughters, Brook and Kendal, Shane Coleman and wife Ashley and children, James and Ava, Megan Shepard and husband Justin and children Jackson and Scarlett, and Braxton Coleman and wife Emily. Dad loved his church family at Valley View Primitive Baptist Church where he attended regularly until his illness. He was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt, fish and swim. He also enjoyed gardening. He especially loved sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Retired Minister Bob Templeton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Fairlawn. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
