Richard Elvin Whitt, 77, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday at Radford Nursing and Rehab. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired motor inspector for Inland Motors in Radford. He is survived by his wife, Lula Mae Whitt of Christiansburg; three daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Ricky Byrd of Floyd and Karen Bernal and Lisa Sayers both of Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Shawna Whitt of Radford; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Hollar, Justin and Zachery Byrd, and Dylan, Brianna, Kendra, Kayla and Dakota Whitt; two half sisters, Sophia Leedy and Vicki Hrones Roop both of Pulaski; half brother, Nick Hrones of Radford. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
