Richard Linwood Slone, 46 of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a member of Edgemont Christian Church, a U. S. Army veteran and was a truck driver with S. R. Draper Paving Co. He was a loving father and friend to his children Sara and Ken. He was preceded in death by his mother Marian Hylton Slone Goad. Survivors include two children, Sara Slone of Radford and Ken Slone of Vinton; his father and step-mother, Dolor and Naoma Slone of Vinton; three sisters and brother-in-law, Melissa Crouch of Vinton, Karen Neal of Roanoke, and Sherry and Epsy Bell of Jacksonville, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Janet Slone of Charlotte, NC; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Edgemont Christian Church in Christiansburg with Rev. Christopher Yopp officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Slone family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
