Richard Lee Simpkins, 74, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his home in Christiansburg. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during Vietnam and was retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nanny Simpkins. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bobbie Simpkins; son, Richard Simpkins II; daughters, Sonya Spradling, Irma Francisco (Donnie), and Angie Simpkins; grandchildren, Michael Jancso, Chiana Spradling, Cody Francisco, and Olivia Francisco; brothers, Kenneth Simpkins and Joe Simpkins; sisters, Ita Bishop (Dickie), Ruth Thomas (Ronnie) and Connie Moses (Frank); K9 companion, Lulu; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Minister Pete Trout officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the funeral home.
