Richard Lee Helvey, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at his home in Radford. He was an electrician retired from Radford University and served in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henderson Helvey and Sallie Rhodes Helvey, and brother, Charles Helvey.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Kingrea Helvey; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Michael Potts of Shawsville; son and daughter-in-law, Lucas and Amanda Covey of Blacksburg; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Diane Helvey of Lynchburg; and several other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Aaron Pierce officiating. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
