Rex Hash Butchy Matney, Jr., 38, of Radford, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was preceded in death by a nephew Charles Rex Brimer. Survivors include his son Josiah Matney of Rich Creek; his father and stepmother Rex Hash, Sr., and Carolyn Matney of Statesville, NC; his mother Wanda Saul Thornton of Radford; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darin and Dawn Brimer of Hardy and Charles Gordon and Sonja Brimer of Hiwassee; and special nieces and nephews Darin Brimer, Jr., Donald Brimer, Carissa Brimer, Kelsey Brimer, Charles Brimer, Jr. and Aaron Sifford. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening prior to the service from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. The Matney family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
