Rev. Elbert Lee Cox, 85, of Dublin, went to Heaven to be with his loving wife on Tuesday, December 30, 2008. He was a retired Church of God minister with over 51 years of service. He was born June 7, 1923 in Floyd County, the son of the late Wade F. and Ollie Elizabeth Gallimore Cox. He was a U. S. Army Veteran having served during WWII in the European-African-Middle-Eastern Theatre. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Vivian Mae Sifford Cox. Survivors include his son, Nelson Sifford of Radford; two grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Kimberly Sifford of Radford, and Karen and Zack Parker of Ridgeway; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staffs and doctors of Wheatland Hills, Pulaski Health & Rehab and Mountain View Hospice. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dublin Church of God with Rev. James Walker, Rev. Danny McGlothlin, Pastor Mike Collins, Pastor Kenneth Poston and Rev. David Hagee officiating. Interment will follow in the Pentecostal Conference Cemetery in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Smoky Mountain Childrens Home, P. O.
