Owen Clinton McKinnie, III, 80, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at his home in Radford. He was an Elder in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses and retired in 1992 after teaching math at New River Community College for 30 years. He graduated in 1952 from NC State with a degree in Industrial Engineering and in 1973 from Radford College with a Masters Degree in Education. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents Owen Clinton McKinnie Jr. and Esthelle McGhee McKinnie, and a sister LaDare Aycock. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Helen Huff McKinnie; three children and their spouses Camille M. and Greg Bishop of Radford, Beth M. and Jeff Back of Pulaski and Owen C., IV and Kim McKinnie of Radford; two grandchildren Molly P. and W. Grant Back; sisters Lenore Veazey of Durham, NC and Elouise Goodson and her husband Burton of Danville; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Chuck Dean officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Radford Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses.
