Obituary

Othar Maynard Bradley, 94, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at his home with his loving family gathered around his bedside. He went to join his wife of 70 years who preceded him in death in 2007. He is also preceded in death by his youngest son Jonathan Zane Chew Bradley. He worked in the coal mines for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and after his Honorable Discharge he trained as an Armature Winder with Coppinger Machine Shop in Bluefield, WVA. He also worked with Hart Electric in Bluefield. He moved to Radford, VA in 1960 where he worked at Hercules Powder Plant and retired in 1973. He was a loyal member of the Church of God for over 65 years. Survivors include his daughter Ramona Faye Kaplan of Radford; daughter Wynona Gaye Slemp and husband Jim of New Smyrna Beach, FL; son Maynard Ray Bradley of Greenville, WVA and wife Carol of Bluefield; son Danny Bradley and wife Barbara of Berryville, VA and daughter Lazona Kay Bradley of Rich Creek, VA.; adopted daughter Patricia Nixon of Pulaski, VA; and sister, Ruth Miller of Peterstown, WV. He has 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition to the above he helped raise 10 other children. Special thanks to Stephanie Smith, Christy Poff and other professionals of Amedisys Hospice Services for their devoted service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amedisys Hospice Services, 154 W. 4th St. Salem, VA 24153. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on July 23, 2009 at the West Radford Church of God with Rev. James Walker and Pastor Hershel Daniels officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest at the Bradley Cemetery in Lindside, WVA. The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the West Radford Church of God. The Bradley family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
