Nellie Black Edmonds, 86, formally of Radford, went to be with our Lord on April 27, 2011 peacefully at her home in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born December 10, 1925 in Radford, the daughter of the late Daniel and Nora Black. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Radford until moving to Cleveland, Ohio where she married the late William Bill Edmonds. She started a career in catering and worked for the same company for 24 years before retiring. Nellie always prided herself in her work and received special honor for never missing a day of work in those 24 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eleven of her twelve siblings. Nellie is survived by her brother, Silas Black of Chandler, Arizona, brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Nellie also had an extended family including her sisters at heart, Jessie Walker of Cleveland, OH and Marjorie Washington of Bronx, New York, and a host of friends. The family would like to especially thank Diane Stewart of Cleveland, OH. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. C. Coles Casey officiating. Interment will follow in the New River Cemetery in New River. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. The Edmonds family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
