Nathaniel Thomas Smart, age 85 of Dublin, passed away Thursday September, 25, 2008 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Thomas and Mamie Williams Smart, a sister Audrey Vernon, two brothers Darst Smart and Soanie Smart, and his wife of 60 years Rebecca Ratcliffe Smart. Survivors include five brothers Robin Smart and Kirby Smart both of Stuart, VA, Elzie Smart of Spencer, VA, Kernie Smart of Martinsville, and Dillard Smart of Vesta, VA; four sisters, Carol Sutphin of Vesta, VA, Joy Hicks of Butner, VA, Gloria Martin of Bassett, and Gay Brown of Mt. Airy, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday September 28, 2008 at Mullins Funeral Home with Larry Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday. The Smart family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
