Mildred Hoback Gerberich, 79, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday, December 30th, 2005. She was born in Floyd County and married her high school sweetheart, George Gerberich, who preceded her in death. With her beloved George's help with the home and three girls, she earned her undergraduate degree from Radford College and continued with a graduate degree from the University of Virginia. She worked as an educator in various roles and locations before retiring as principal of Floyd Elementary school. After her retirement, Mildred spent most of her days tending to her expansive rose garden at her home on South Franklin Street. She was an American Rose Society Consulting Rosarian and greatly enjoyed sharing her beautiful roses with friends and family. Mildred also loved the annual family beach vacations and collecting Santa Claus replicas and antique baskets. She was a long time member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church and enjoyed her participation with the Stephens Ministry. Although her life was altered by dementia during her later years, she will always be remembered for her vibrancy and zest for life. Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Suzanne and Dan Hamrick, Ellen Altizer and Debbie Gerberich, all of Christiansburg; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jocelyn and Scott Sanders of Christiansburg, Clay and Courtney Altizer of Starkville, MS, Ryan Hamrick of Farmville, and Whitt Hamrick of Christiansburg; a great-grandson, Mason Sanders; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Charles Flippo of Floyd and Jane and Slim Crawford of Scruggs; and special friends Doris and Bob Abraham. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Jerry Whitt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the American Rose Society, P. O.
