Mildred Bain Sullivan Duncan, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at her home in Radford. She was born September 11, 1926 the daughter of the late Mark D. Bain and Dessie Gray Fulcher Bain. Mildred was of the Baptist faith and served the Lord her whole life. She was a den mother of the Cub Scouts, which she enjoyed. She always found a need to help someone because "you feel blessed when you do something for someone who can't help themselves". She was well known at Radford College for 10 years as a cook and also was a correspondent to the Southwest Times for about 37 years where she had many friends and loved them all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, William David Sullivan and Earl E. Duncan, son, Michael Wayne Sullivan, stepson, Danny Duncan, grandchildren, Loretta Lynn Sullivan, Charles S. Nester, Jr., and Jason Sullivan, great great grandson, Issac Sheppard, sisters and their husbands, Evelyn and Paul Smith, Lena and Charlie Hall, and Beulah and Frazier Roop. Surviving are daughter, Barbara Sullivan; sons, Leroy and Larry Sullivan; adopted daughter, Kelly Sullivan Duncan Grissom; step daughter and husband, Dana and Wagner Young; 9 grandchildren; and lots of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. John Tibbs officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3 until 5 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. The Duncan family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory, Radford.
