Mazie Lee Fletcher Akers, 80, of Radford, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Radford. She was preceded in death by three sons, Columbus Lee Akers, James Dale Akers and William Patton (Bill) Akers. Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Linda Prescott of Radford, Pam and Gordon Middlekauff of Vinton, and Sandy Meachun of Rocky Gap; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Brenda Akers of Pulaski; very special daughter-in-law and friend, Vickie Akers and Glenn King of Radford; special niece, Josie Havens and family of Bland; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grand children. Special thanks to Carilion New River Valley Hospice and to her caregiver Willa Roseberry. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church in Radford with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions made be made to the Friendship Baptist Church. The Akers family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
