Obituary

Mavis Allen (Putt) Dobbins, 84, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at his home in Pulaski County. He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the RAAP. He was a member and Past Master of the Va. May Masonic Lodge #38 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Kazim Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents Grover Lee and Nannie Lena Horton Dobbins, his wife, Yvonna Joan Lewis Dobbins, daughter, Dolly Cochran, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bentley Simpkins of Pulaski County; sister, Dorothy Irene Wilson of Baltimore, MD; brother-in-law and his wife, Curtis and Elsie Lewis; sister-in-law, Gael Dobbins; 6 grandchildren, Guinevere Toh, Aaron L. Bolling, Jr., Melissa Bolling, Natalie Brown, and Chris and Kellie Simpkins; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home where Masonic Last Rites will be held at 7:00 pm. All masons are asked to assembly at the funeral home at 6:40 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the VFW Post #776, c/o Gary Harris, 402 Ninth Street, Radford, VA 24141 The Dobbins family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
