Maurice "Duke" Lee Long, 84, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, in the Good Sam Hospice House in Roanoke. He was a retired postal rural carrier and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Duke owned Longs Auto service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nettie Long; brother, Cloyd H. Long; and sister, Mackie Waltz. Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Shelburne Long; step sons, Tim Saunders (Cindy) and Todd Saunders (Rhonda); step grandchildren, Brandon Saunders (Audrey), Bailey Saunders (Jessi), and Beth Saunders; 5 step great grandchildren; sisters, Colleen Oakley and Doris Werner; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
