Matilda Lorine Shumate, 83, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. She was a member of Belview United Methodist Church and faithfully served the Lord all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rufus Shumate; her parents; and 9 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in- law, Eddie and Dee Shumate of Christiansburg, and Samuel and Sally Shumate of Christiansburg; daughters and son-in- law, Gloria and Earl Hollen of Hedgesville, W. Va., and Zora Shumate of Ghent, W. Va.; grandchildren and their spouses, Eddie Jr. and Christina Shumate, Samuel and April Shumate, Rufus and Jenn Shumate, Camilla Hollen, Sherrie and Josh Sirdofsky, and Jason and Aubrey Hollen; brothers, Alvin and Carlos Bowden; and numerous great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Bud Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Elgood Cemetery in Elgood, W. Va. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
