Mary Ellen Tallant, 75, passed away at her home in Radford on Monday, February 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Millard Lacy Underwood. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, William Malcolm Tallant of Radford; son, William M. Tallant, Jr. of Radford; daughters, Eugenia Rosemary Akers of Newport, and Velma Katherine Price of Blacksburg; mother, Velma S. Perdue of Newport; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Gladis Doss of Dublin, Martha Ann Gunther of Wytheville and Melinda Mae Goodwin; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
