Obituary

Mary Frances Tolbert Slusher, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007. She was a faithful member of Carter Street United Methodist Church and a retired weaver with Burlington Industries. She was born July 16, 1925 the daughter of the late James Madison and Stella Virginia DeHart Tolbert. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband J. C. Slusher. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jake and Julie Slusher of Roanoke and Jim and Lee Slusher of Radford; four grandchildren and their spouses, Beth S. and Bob Davis of Radford, Richie and Melissa Slusher and Jennifer Slusher, both of Roanoke, and Jim Slusher, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; special granddaughter, Ann Marie Harvey; four great-grandchildren; and a sister Sylvia Akers of Radford. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carter Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Kristie Banes officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Carter St. UMC or to Carilion NRV Hospice, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141. The Slusher family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
