Mary Leora Sweat O'Dell, age 79, of Pulaski, Virginia, returned to her Heavenly Father Sunday, September 21. She died peacefully in her home. Mrs. O'Dell retired from Edwin O'Dell & Company in 1999 after 36 years of service and was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Pulaski where she was the organist and choir director for 30 years. Among those who preceded her in death include her parents, Annie Ethel and James Butler Sweat Sr., Lebanon Junction, Kentucky; and ten brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, Vernon Edwin O'Dell; one daughter, Tami Maria O'Dell-Huttick and son-in-law, Robert Huttick of Richboro, Pennsylvania; one son, Richard E. O'Dell and daughter-in-law, Aussie of Calabasas, California; one sister, Helena Sweat Montgomery of Shelbyville, Kentucky and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Pulaski celebrated by Fr. Steve Antes with burial following in the O'Dell Cemetery, Hiwassee, Virginia. Friends may pay their respects from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 23 at Mullins Funeral Home, 120 West Main St, Radford.
