Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Kay Betty Amonette passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. Elizabeth Amonette was devoted to her family throughout her lifetime and to the very end--she passed away at home with her husband and four children at her bedside. Her husband says, She was the best person, mother and wife that I have ever known. She did everything that she should have done. She enjoyed gardening and attending social events with her husband including dinners, dancing, and bridge club. She was a faithful and dedicated Christian seven days a week and lived an example for all to follow. Her life has left the world a better place. She handled her terminal cancer diagnosis with dignity and grace, maintained her radiance and nice smile and commented, I have lived a good life. Her family extends deepest thanks for the many cards of cheer, delicious food brought by friends, attention received through The Presbyterian Church of Radford and the excellent care provided by hospice and personal caregivers. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Wilbur F. Amonette of Radford; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Amonette of Luray, Ben and Peggy Amonette of Radford, and Mark and Rose Marie Amonette of Powhatan; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Tim Wright of Virginia Beach; brother, Harry Lee Kay of Alexandria; sister, Evelyn Thornton of Midlothian; nine grandchildren, Steven Amonette, Zackary Wright, Chris Hammond, Isaac Wright, Jesse Wright, Matthew Amonette, Lorran Amonette, Benjamin Amonette and William Amonette; and two great grandchildren, Maximus Amonette and Amelia Hammond.
