Mary Farmer Akers Alger, 97, loving mother and granny, of Fairlawn, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Graham Farmer and Mary Emeline Duncan Farmer; husbands, Frank Harman Akers and Samuel Alger; sons, Raymond, Pete; daughters-in-law, Giny and Alberta; brothers, David, Vernon, Edward, Emmett and Pete; and sisters, Belle Furrow and Lillie Webb. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Willard, Robert and Lois, Larry, and Walter and Shelba; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Akers, Sylvia Farmer, and Imogene and Dennis Setliff; daughter-in-law, Alice Akers; brother, Mack Farmer; sister, Betty McPeak; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Ginny Tompkins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service. The Alger family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
