Obituary

Marion Jean Perkins Sheckler, 76 of Radford, went to her heavenly reward on Friday, August 22, 2008. She was a member of Radford Wesleyan Church and was a retired secretary at the First Christian Church. She served God in many ways, including as a concert and church vocal soloist, minister of music, church pianist, Sunday School teacher, leader of a ministry for children, and hospice volunteer. She was born September 20, 1931 in Detroit, MI the daughter of the late Robert B. and Marion Osborne Perkins. Survivors include her husband Lewis Raymond Sheckler of Radford; three sons and daughters-in-law, David Roy Sheckler of Radford, Stephen William and Beverly Sheckler of Morton, PA, and Lt. Col. John Mark (ret.) and Annette Sheckler of Chesterfield, VA: a brother Walter Perkins of Onaway, MI; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Radford Wesleyan Church with Rev. Barry Van Steenburg officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Gideon's International, Post Office Box 140800, Nashville, TN 372140800. The Sheckler family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home and Crematory in Radford.
